A222: Dr. Seuss to Shakespeare: The Written and Spoken Word in Splash Spring 2020 (Mar. 28, 2020)
Poetry and articulation are two foundations to writing and performance in the humanities and in life. To write is to express, communicate and understand through a broad array of emotion; to perform adds a dimension of empathy. In this class we will discuss and analyze three qualities of a piece of writing, beginning with the meaning of the written word, then the format of words, and the way that words are spoken. From Dr. Seuss to Shakespeare, writing has influenced generations of people; students will be challenged to do the same.
